The Department of Tourism & Heritage at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position specializing in Modern Arab History. Candidates with additional competence in World History, Islamic History and related areas are particularly welcome to apply. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record with globally recognized publishers and in highly-ranked international journals, as well as demonstrable teaching experience. Candidates should consider the following conditions: - MA and PhD should be in History, Middle Eastern Studies or relevant cognate discipline from an excellent international university; - Research specializations and publications should be related to the modern history of the Arab world, and preferably also to world history; - Publication record should be with globally recognized publishers and/or highly-ranked international journals; - Teaching experience relevant to the modern history of the Arab world plus additional experience in world history, Islamic history, intercultural encounters, interreligious encounters, tolerance or related areas; - Experience and interest in developing new programs is desirable. - Successful application for competitive research funding is desirable. - Native or near-native fluency in English as the medium of instruction at UAEU.
