Job Descriptions

• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer • Sets up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations • Analyzes the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices • Analyzes and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs, and narratives • Obtains specimens, cultivating, isolating, and identifying microorganisms for analysis • Examines cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities • Collects blood or tissue samples from patients, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood sample • Consults with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found • Participates in giving orientations to new technicians and laboratory assistants • Prepares standard volumetric solutions and reagents to be combined with samples, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures • Performs skin test for mantoux test to confirm pulmonary tuberculosis • Performs internal and external quality control program • Responsible in maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and smooth flow of operations of each section • Performs daily/weekly maintenance, check -up, calibration and troubleshooting of equipment • Helps in monitoring the reagents, supplies, and stocks in each section • Tests raw materials, processes and finished products to determine quality and quantity of materials or characteristics of a substance • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed • Performs other duties related to laboratory works as directed by his/her superiors
